Chocolate Bunnies or Resurrection Power?

The Power of the Resurrection:

(Today’s post is taken from the latest column I have written for our local newspaper, the Clipper).

What is Easter? Many people associate this holiday with plush bunnies, colorful candied eggs, and lots of chocolate, but there is so much more to this special day than all of that.

Easter is the most important day on the Christian calendar, because it is the time of the year that the church celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus. On Good Friday, Jesus Christ died on the Cross to pay the price for the forgiveness of our sins, and three days later, He was raised from the dead.

Resurrection. New life. New hope. This is the Good News of the Christian message that continues to inspire people after two thousand years. No matter how long the winter is, spring always comes. No matter how long or dark your night may be, dawn always breaks. And no matter how lost, hurting or broken your life may be, there is the hope of new beginnings in Jesus.

The Bible says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new!” All things have become new. What a precious promise this is! Jesus offers free forgiveness of sins, adoption into God’s family, deliverance from bad habits and addictions, and healing for any sicknesses or diseases in your body.

Because Jesus is alive, we can face tomorrow with joy and peace in our hearts, and a hope and expectancy of receiving all of the blessings of the Lord in our lives!
