On the Bookshelf – Currently Reading: “#SunStandStill” by Steven Furtick

Sun Stand Still BookFinally (after several months) picked up “Sun Stand Still: What Happens When You Dare to Ask God for the Impossible” by Steven Furtick again and finished it this past week. Great book! Rather than giving you an official ‘book review’, I thought I’d share with you a few inspirational quotes from the book instead. If you want to be challenged and inspired to pray audacious prayers, this is the book for you!

“God has much more in mind for your existence on this earth than merely surviving.”

“If you ever encounter a theology that doesn’t directly connect the greatness of God with your potential to do great things on his behalf, it’s not biblical theology.”

Steven Furtick“If you’re not daring to believe God for the impossible, you’re sleeping through some of the best parts of your Christian life. And further still: if the size of your vision for your life isn’t intimidating to you, there’s a good chance it’s insulting to God.”

“Audacity… makes regular people behave with boldness or daring, especially with confident disregard for personal comfort (or) conventional thought.”

“There’s nothing our world needs more desperately today – in individuals, families, businesses, churches and communities – than God’s saving, supernatural acts. And he’s ready to act if we will be bold enough to ask, not just for a good bday or a better life, but for the impossible.”

“You will pay a tremendous price to operate in an audacious anointing. And the level of your impact will be directly proportional to teh price you are willing to pay.”

“When you ask God to do the impossible, he usually instructs you to do something uncomfortable. And inconvenient.”

“The thing is, sometimes God has to let your dreams die so that his vision for you can come alive.”

“The God of the Bible can do whatever he pleases. And what pleases him is to show off his power for his glory and renown. So give him the opportunity. Dream God-worthy dreams. Pray faith-fueled prayers. Live a life that an be explained only by the existence of a God who is infinitely great.”

“To really pray with power and to trust Jesus radically, you need to consume as much of God’s Word as you possibly can. Increase your exposure to teaching and preaching about Jesus.”

  1. When my boys were entering high school I knew I wanted to be home to see them off in the mornings and greet them at the end of their day. I was laughed at when I prayed for a job that would allow such specific hours. I prayed with the belief that God would honor my desire to care for my family.

A month later I received a phone call from a woman I didn’t know saying I had been recommended to her and asked me to come for an interview to teach preschool. The hours? Perfect …
