Many of you know that I am currently working on a new book. It is a youth fantasy novel called “The Voyagers: Mutiny on the Fellowship.” I have had the idea for this book since 1999, but only started actually writing the script during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in 2011. Three and a half years later, and I only have 18 of a planned 21 chapters finished of the first draft.
Now, they say that you’re supposed to write about what you know – and yet, this prairie boy living in the middle of Canada is writing a book about pirates and sailing ships! That being said, I have read numerous books and online articles about ships, sailing and pirates. But, until yesterday, I had never actually been on a tall ship myself. Yesterday, I had that opportunity, and was able to do some hands-on research. It was exciting, fantastic, thrilling! Here are some of the pictures from our trip on the Silva of Halifax.
